June kicks off an incredible time to be in Philadelphia, especially this summer. In the lead up to July 4, there is an amazing number of things to do. The FIFA World Cup begins mid-month with matches in South Philly and the fan festival in Lemon Hill. Beer gardens like the Rodin Garden Bar provide fun hangout spots, while lots of museums open their doors for free as part of Wawa Welcome America.
Here’s a look at some of our favorite events and things to do in Philadelphia in June 2026.
Relax at Parks on Tap

The roving seasonal beer garden Parks on Tap brings its food and drinks to over 25 parks around the city. The pop-up event—in a new location each week—encourages visitors to enjoy the open spaces in a fun, family- and pet-friendly environment. The menu includes beers from Mainstay and other local breweries, several cocktails, and food such as a cheeseburger, birria sandwich, watermelon and caprese salad, and more. Parks on Tap runs every Wednesday to Sunday through October 11, 2026, weather permitting.
June dates:
- June 3-7 – Powers Park (Port Richmond)
- June 10 -14 – Burholme Park (the Northeast)
- June 17-21 – Fernhill Park (Germantown)
- June 24-28 – Pretzel Park (Manayunk)
Enjoy the Rodin Garden Bar

We experienced the Rodin Garden Bar for the first time last summer, and it’s safe to say that enjoying this beautiful space will be a yearly priority. On Fridays through August 28, 2026, the sculpture garden of the Rodin Museum becomes a chic hangout spot with music, drinks, and light bites surrounding the fountain. The only drawback is that seating is limited, so plan to be flexible. Admission to the Garden Bar is free, and entry to the museum is pay what you wish.
Explore the Chinese Lantern Festival

The Chinese Lantern Festival in Franklin Square tops our list of things to do every summer. What’s particularly cool about it is that the lanterns change every year, so there are always new creations to see with a new theme.
The food is excellent (check out Sang Kee), and we love the cultural performances, especially the Face Changer. This year’s lanterns celebrate the Year of the Horse and the many events taking place around Philly this summer like the World Cup and the America 250 celebrations. Advanced tickets (timed Friday through Sunday) are required. The festival runs through August 16, 2026.
Attend a Saturday Firstival

All year long, 52 Weeks of Firsts showcase all the fascinating things that started in Philadelphia. These Saturday Firstivals happen every Saturday from 11 am to 1 pm through the end of the year and include stories, family activities, and entertainment.
- First American Flag: Head to the Betsy Ross House in Old City to learn about the first American flag and the woman who reportedly brought the red, white and blue to life (June 6)
- U.S. Army: The Museum of the American Revolution is the place to go for stories of the founding of the U.S. Army and its history of courage (June 13)
- First Annual Reminder Demonstration: Four years before Stonewall, equal rights activists met at Independence Hall for the first “Annual Reminder,” a demonstration in favor of LGBTQ rights. Learn about this first at the Philly Pride Visitor Center (June 20)
- First Paper Maker in America: The collection of stone buildings beside Wissahickon Creek is the first place where paper was made in the country. All the way back in 1690, it all began at Historic Rittenhouse Town. Head there to learn more (June 27)
Celebrate Pride
Philly shows off for Pride month in a big way with events all around the city and suburbs. The massive parade and festival that’s the largest of the local events moves to Ben Franklin Parkway in anticipation of record attendance on June 7, 2026. Expect speeches, music, and the incredible 600-foot Pride flag, followed by the Pride Festival.
While it’s still free to participate in the parade, there is a $10 fee for the festival.
Watch a match at the FIFA Fan Festival
Starting in June, Lemon Hill hosts a giant festival for the FIFA World Cup. The free FIFA Fan Festival is a place to watch the matches with friends while enjoying great food and drinks, music, and cultural events. Just make sure to register in advance. It runs from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
Attend the Juneteenth festivities

Juneteenth events kick off on June 19, 2026, with the Juneteenth Jubilee at The African American Museum in Philadelphia. DJ Jazzy Jeff and Slick Rick headline the music-filled event that celebrates Emancipation. Check out all the great food trucks and the vendor village that focuses on Black-owned businesses.
Events continue through the weekend. On June 20, Germantown comes alive with vendors and entertainment near the Johnson House. There are family-friendly activities and even a bit of education—last year, we enjoyed talking with a historical interpreter portraying a member of the United States Colored Troops. June 21 brings the Juneteenth Parade & Festival in West Philly, culminating at Malcolm X Park with over 250 vendors and a concert.
Check out free museum days

Free Museum Days are one of the best things about June in Philly. Free admission to 47(!) museums kicks off on June 19 and runs through July 4, 2026. Some highlights include:
- June 20 – Ebenezer Maxwell Mansion in Germantown
- June 21 – Elfreth’s Alley Museum in Old City
- June 23 – Christ Church in Old City
- June 24 – Woodmere in Chestnut Hill
- June 25 – Independence Seaport Museum at Penn’s Landing
- June 27 – Johnson House Historic Site in Germantown
- June 28 – Mother Bethel AME Church in Society Hill
Take in the rooftop views

One of our favorite ways to spend a beautiful afternoon is by enjoying one of the city’s excellent rooftop bars. We’ve been to them all and definitely have our preferences. Bok Bar has the best views in the city, and Puyero is serving excellent Venezuelan food there this month. For great drinks and comfortable seating perched above the Parkway, Assembly is the place to go. If you’re craving Mexican, head to El Techo—the roof there is retractable, so you don’t need to worry about the weather.
Browse the Manayunk Arts Festival
If you’re in the market for artwork, ceramics, or a wide variety of artisan creations, the Manayunk Arts Festival is the place to go June 27-28, 2026. Hundreds of vendors fill Main Street for two days of food and shopping. Make your life easier and take one of the shuttles – it’s just $4 round trip for adults and $2 for kids.
