Delaware County has an incredible range of free lights displays at Christmas. There are lots of creative neighbors with over-the-top decorations and homes that have become traditions to visit thanks to displays they have built over decades. There are yards packed with sculptures, custom radio stations to accompany animations, and lots and lots of holiday spirit. Take a look at some of our favorite Christmas lights in Delco to visit this season.

Lights on Walnut Hill Lane
Lots of Santas, polar bears, and Disney characters welcome you to Walnut Hill Lane. This whole Havertown yard is filled with light sculptures, several of which are animated. Get out of your car for a closer look and enjoy the music.
Colorful trees on Birnam Wood
This sprawling property has thousands of lights that you can see from multiple angles.
Marques Holiday Display
With once glance, it’s easy to see why the Marques family’s incredible display has won awards in the Upper Merion Township light contest for years. Themed sections of the yard include Candy Land, Land of the Misfit Toys, The Grinch, and more. You’ll even find a few festive Storm Troopers ready to take on Obi Wan. Don’t miss the North Pole Zoo beside the driveway–the animals here are tended by Santa’s elves.
Santa on Summit
A friendly Santa and larger-than-life jingle bells are the standouts at this light-filled home in Broomall. On our drive, we found lots of other houses in the surrounding blocks that contribute to making this area worth visiting.
Festival of Lights at Rose Tree County Park
When it comes to free light displays in greater Philadelphia, it doesn’t get better than Rose Tree County Park. This beautiful space, where fantastic lights have been a tradition for over 40 years, is a must visit at the holidays. Wander the grounds to see the dozens of lit trees plus a light tunnel and light sculptures. The park is lit nightly from 5 to 10pm through January 5, 2025.
Maddock Winter Wonderland
This house in Springfield combines lots of classic elements in a colorful display. We particularly love the gift-filled sleigh being pulled by the reindeer.
Christmas in Media
A project that started with one snowman 50 years ago has grown into one of the most spectacular light displays in Delco. There’s so much to see that the large yard just begs to be explored on foot. Luckily, the homeowners are happy for guests to walk around if hasn’t been too rainy.
Christmas in Media has hundreds of classic blow molds and wire sculptures paired with modern light projections and videos (you can hear music and clips on 87.9FM). We love the moving mini Ferris wheel and the buildings dripping in lights. It’s always fun to see the changes and additions the family makes to their display every year. Don’t hesitate to leave a letter to Santa in the mailbox right in front.
Lights are on Sunday through Thursday from 5pm to 8:30pm. On Friday and Saturday, they stay on until 9:30pm.
A Briarhill Christmas
We absolutely love this gorgeous Springfield display that strikes a balance between being packed with over 20,000 lights and being elegant at the same time. The red and green motif–complete with a giant Santa–also has a Christmas countdown sign. If you roll down your window, you’ll hear low-level music and Santa “ho, ho, ho”-ing on the video projection screen. It’s an incredible sight.
Holiday Lights on Highland
I don’t think this packed yard in Broomall could fit another holiday character if they tried. We stopped to hear the sounds of “Jingle Bell Rock” playing on the speaker in the front yard and enjoyed looking at the hundreds of figurines on display. Nutcrackers, snowmen, Mickey Mouse, an army of gingerbread men, and even the Tasmanian Devil make this bright house full of holiday spirit.
