The holidays are right around the corner. One of the things we love to do is give fun, memorable gifts that capture the Philly spirit. This year, we’ve developed a list of local artisans and independent shops that are creating fun and memorable gifts.
We’re big fans of supporting the local community. By buying from these artisans and creators, you’re helping the local economy and helping keep more of your money right here (instead of going to some chain store at the mall). You’re also supporting local jobs.
We hope you’ll check out the cool gift ideas and buy something for that special someone on your shopping list. Or, just buy something for yourself.
Sassy stickers

We’re fans of ChronicallyGlittery’s sassy stickers. The minute we saw “No One Likes Us We Don’t Care,” I knew I had to have it for my laptop. Shop owner Rachel has a bunch of creative stickers and magnets.
Fly Eagles Fly

Cailin at Philastrations has some cool t-shirts for the Phils and Eagles. We love the Fly Eagles Fly sweatshirt. It’s great for lounging at home or heading down to the Linc.
Stoops of South Philly puzzle

If you’ve lived in this city for more than 10 minutes, you’re already familiar with the work of Alicia Levantini. You’ll find it in stores of the Gayborhood, East Passyunk, and beyond. But you can also order directly from her. Her detailed sketches of local businesses are cherished. We’re particularly fond of her masterful work The Stoops of South Philly, which is available as a poster print or a PUZZLE!
The ultimate sports book
There’s no denying that Philly is a sports town and This Day in Philadelphia Sports is the ultimate Philly sports bible. Filled with great facts and phun stories, it’s a must have for the sports lover in your house. Written by a local author who is one of us. You can try to find it at a local independent bookstore, or it is also available from Amazon.
Intricate designed shirts and hoodies
The minute we set eyes on the intricate designs of Paul Carpenter, we were in love. He creates artworks of beloved Philly institutions (Gritty, Phanatic, Love Statue) and then makes those designs available on art prints, t-shirts, and hoodies. We’re partial to the LOVE statue and the Phanatic.
Sports mascots

In Philly, we love our sports mascots. Jamie Bendas has captured that devotion in designs that are available as small art prints, stickers, magnets, and buttons. We’re partial to the sports mascot print that includes our beloved Phang.
Fine ceramics
Did you know that Philly is home to one of the best ceramics factories in America? In the heart of Kensington, Felt + Fat Ceramics makes some pretty damn awesome tableware and houseware items. They also have a partnership with Jason Kelce to make some interesting co-branded items. Best of all, supporting them helps support manufacturing growth right here in Philadelphia.
Caphe Roasters coffee set

Philadelphia has one of the largest Vietnamese communities on the East Coast. And Caphe Roasters is an incredible coffee shop and roastery making traditional Vietnamese coffees. Their coffees can be purchased by mail order or in your local grocery store. If you’re new to Vietnamese coffee, why not pick up the Caphe Roasters Coffee Brew Kit and start exploring the delicious flavors?
LOVE candles

We love the LOVE statue. The Philly Candles company hand pours a cool LOVE statue candle in bright red wax. It makes a great decoration.
Coffee mug
Best known as Philly’s beloved stationary store, Paper on Pine also has some fun local gifts. We’re enjoying their Philly skyline coffee mug. It’s the perfect mug to enjoy your morning cup of coffee.
Shane’s Chocolates

America’s oldest confectionery is located right here: Shane’s Confectionery. And Shane’s has some incredible candies and chocolates to make your holidays special. Be sure to pick up your box of Craftsman Assortments chocolates. Also, for those who celebrate, the annual Shane Advent Box is an annual holiday tradition.
Wrap It in Style

Straight outta South Jersey, Cherry Hill artist Emily Hendrie of Meadowbrook Ln has a whole collection of hand towels, pillows and other items all based on the Philly culinary scene. One item caught our eye: Philadelphia soft pretzel wrapping paper. Show your local pride in everything you do, including gift wrapping.
Love City Prints

Megan McGowan of Love City Prints has a whole collection of art prints based on the City of Brotherly Love. From skylines to maps, these beautiful designs are a must-have in any home or apartment. We’re partial to the city map prints.
The Scents of the Season

The Mount Airy Candle Co. has generated a lot of buzz. If you love scented candles, you’ll be enamored with their Applewood Honey & Clove or Winter Spruce candles. Make the trip to their store in Mt Airy, or, just order online from their shop.
Architectural coloring book
Local artist David Cox brings the city to life in this coloring book of some of the most interesting landmarks and beautiful views in Philly. Check a local independent bookstore or get it on Amazon.
